Outreach

I am very enthusiastic about outreach and communicating science to the wider audience. I am actively engaged in outreach online and offline. As an undergraduate and graduate student, I was an active member of the Astro Club at Fergusson College, Pune, where we organized several colloquia, workshops, and interaction sessions with researchers, and volunteered for Science Day exhibitions & science fairs. I have appeared on "Manthan" - a science and technology related tv show produced by Deutsche Welle and broadcast on India's national tv channel Doordarshan. In the past few years, I've lived in countries where I don't speak the local language fluently, thus my outreach opportunities are limited.

Skype A Scientist is a non-profit educational effort which enables people to connect easily and directly with scientists, and for scientists to communicate directly with classrooms using video conferencing. I have had pleasure of interacting with various students from primary and middle school grades, discussing with them about black holes, galaxies, gravity and Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity.

If your school class/kids (or even adults) want to talk to scientists and do a Q&A with them about science topics, you can do that here. And if you are a scientists, you should definitely consider signing up for a session or few here.

Writing

I was part of a team of young researchers writing scientific and educational articles for school children in rural India. The articles written have been shared across dozens of schools and thousands of students, as well as published in local periodicals such as Shaikshanik Sandarbh and Vidnyan Prachiti magazines.

I have written extensively on Quora, a question and Answers website about astronomy and science, where the answers have received over 1 million views and was awarded Top Writer prize for 2015 and 2016.

I have also contributed content, comments and blurbs to many publications and periodicals, such as Lateral Magazine, Sky at Night magazine, TheWire.in and ThePrint.in digital newspapers.

I also write blog articles occasionally, and you can find them here on the website, and you can read my old blog on blogspot here.

Twitter

I am active on twitter regularly, and use it for outreach, among other things. Although I tweet about astronomy, physics and science regularly, it is a personal account, not a dedicated "scicomm" account. So expect plenty of sports (mainly association football), politics, technology and philosophy related tweets, apart from the usual science and scicomm.

I have curated the @astrotweeps rotating curation twitter account for a week in February 2019 and June 2016, where I shared my research. I also curated the @EWASS2017 account when the EWASS meeting took place in Prague, Czech Republic in June 2017.
